Fransa Year 10 Won the International Writing Cup with Her Letter to the Prime Minister

In the Secondary level of the school one of our pupils has been applying her writing techniques into their own creative pieces.  She contributed some content for Nightzookeeper.com, an online writing network which users can share their own work.  With the desire to make changes in society expressed through a letter by Boonyanaree Wattanasan (Fransa) Year 10, she became the winner of the Letter Writing category for the International Writing Cup recently.

Fransa’s writing was a letter to the Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, about the issues and consequences of pollution with her ideas on alternative ways, to help solve the environmental problem.

“I felt that it is not fair for other living creatures and to innocent, young kids who have nothing to do with this problem we are causing.  Therefore, I wrote this letter so people would know that if they take actions, they can cause the world and make it a better place,” she explained.

Having received the good news of this writing achievement from her English teacher, she was delighted as it was not something that she expected.  Fransa further mentioned that if it was not for Ms. McCarthy, her English teacher who supported her, she would not have won.  “I’m grateful to have such an amazing and experienced teacher like her,” Fransa expressed her thankfulness.

Fransa is happy to share a few suggestions for pupils who would like to develop their writing skill.  There are 3 simple ways:

1. Don’t be scared to ask for help.  During the time I wrote this letter, I got lots of help from several people, especially from my teacher.

2. Use the thesaurus to help improve your writing.  These are very useful, instead of using simple common words, you can use the words from the thesaurus, which will help make your writing sound professional.

3. Lastly, believe in yourself, be confident.  At the end, you will be very proud of your work and also, the most important factor, yourself.

Congratulations and thanks to Fransa for sharing with us about your inspiring story and useful advices.  Every young person can be writers starting from noting down things around us.  With a passion to make some changes and confidence, it will just flow into words. You can be the one who wins the international writing cup one day!
